A Day In The Life Of An Inbound Marketing Manager

Meet Gaby Garcia, our Inbound Marketing Manager, who will depict a snapshot of what it is like to be in her shoes:

“A Day In The Life Of An Inbound Marketing Manager”

When I first started working on this position I had no idea what Inbound Marketing was about. I had experience managing PPC Campaigns on Google & Bing for different types of businesses, but I had never actively focused on creating strategies to attract our own prospects. Exciting enough, I had never been given the opportunity to explore crazy ideas, and try things that hadn’t been tried before at our company. 

I remember we used to have meetings where all we did was jot down everything we wanted to accomplish in a quarter. I would ramble and draw all over our white board at the conference room, and my manager would just look at me as if I had grown an extra limb. That’s the benefit of working at a boutique advertising agency, you have a chance to go all out for your clients and I took that goal very seriously. 

I think you’ll agree with me when I say that COVID-19 marked a before and after, so this roughly is what my day looked like before the pandemic:

  • Wake up
  • Drink some coffee
  • Head to the office
  • Go over my daily To-Do List
  • Go over emails
  • Read the latest trends
  • Supervise our Social Media Accounts
  • Follow up on quarter project deliverables
  • Have calls with partners or other team members
  • Shadow our Sales Team and identify areas of opportunity
  • Gather ideas for new projects
  • Head home

After COVID-19, this is what my day looks like:

  • Wake up
  • Drink some coffee
  • Watch the news
    • (Hope that there’s no new virus that will turn everyone into zombies)
  • Head to my desk
  • Sip on my coffee
  • Read my emails
  • Go over my To-Do list
  • Talk to my colleagues and strategic partners 
  • Watch the news
    • (Hope that my state stops being on the top three deadliest states)
  • Follow up on Content Creation & Social Media Strategies
  • Analyze our prospect list and processes
  • Analyze and optimize campaigns for better results

Jokes aside, it was quite difficult to adjust to working from home. I’m the type of person that feeds off the interaction between my co-workers, and I was missing all of that while social distancing. Don’t get me wrong, I was grateful to be safe and still have my job, but I struggled finding that sweet spot, that separation between “home time” and “work time”. Thankfully, my husband has been great at keeping my work-life balance in check. 

This year I’m excited to be working on new content, multi-channel marketing campaigns, strengthening our communication with the sales team, and conducting a (never-ending) customer-product-industry research. Overall, I’m very passionate about what I do, and I’m very excited to get to do it here at First Rank Digital. 

[P.S~ Other than work, you’ll probably find me curled up in a ball reading or re-reading a Stephen King book until my lashes fall off, or shamelessly talking to my dog on a video call]
